Antique bosun's whistle. by William Eaton 1832
This product is no longer in stock
George III sterling / solid silver gilt (gold) bosun's whistle. Hallmarked London 1832 by William Eaton. Marks struck out in London as believed to be a piece of 'duty dodging silver'. The Georgian silversmith would probably have used the hallmarks from a spoon to skillfully hammer into the whistle and thus avoid paying duty. A rare curio item.
Length 10 cm. Weight 15 grams. Condition good. Remains in full working order.
