Availability date:
Victorian sterling, solid silver bosun's whistle. Hallmarked London 1865 by George John Richards & Edward Charles Brown. Marks struck out in London as believed to be a piece of 'duty dodging silver'. The Victorian silversmith would probably have used the hallmarks from a spoon to skillfully hammer into the whistle and thus avoid paying duty. A rare curio item.
