An extremely rare brass pair of 80 mm military binoculars by BBT KRAUSS, the triple turret has 3 different magnifications, 15, 23 and 30 times which can changed with the "okularrevolver" mechanism.
This specification of BBT KRAUSS turret binocular with its combination of magnifications is undocumented and not published in the "Astro" catalogues of the era.

At the dawn of the 20th century there was enormous development and innovation in the area of binoculars for military use.
In 1917 Krauss put the Longue Vue Monoculaire into the market under the name M.1917, enlargement 15 x 23 x and 30 x 80.
In 1816 Busch, Rathenow also introduced into the market similar binoculars with
rotatable eyepiece, enlargement 12 x and 20 x 80.
This type of binoculars originated during the 1st World War.
In 1910 Zeiss was the first to put on the market the Starmore, a telescope consisting of a solitary tube with rotatable eyepiece for varying strength set-ups.
