Rare original order transmitter or voice gate on its base mahogany with call whistle. The original order transmitter is a simple copper tube connecting the bridge to the engine room, with a whistle at each end. The communicator whistles in the tube to call, the person at the other end emits the whistle, the receiver (if he hears the whistle) places his ear near the tube and listens to the message. The mechanical transmitter has considerably improved the transmissions which could be very poorly interpreted due to the ambient noise.
